I have to switch sveral columns type from bigint to uniqueidentifie r, so I am wondering what is the best possible way to do it. Should I just drop the bigint columns and then add the new one, or I could just drop the tables and then recreate them. Can u give me any suggestions?

i would add the new column, then switch scripts to use the new column, then drop the old column. phpmyadmin makes parts of that easier
